review: Mrs. Darcy’s Dilemma

Mrs. Darcy’s Dilemma
by Diana Birchall

This Pride and Prejudice continuation is different from the others I have read in that it is much later in the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Darcy. Mrs. Darcy has the unhappy task of deciding whether to bring Lydia’s daughters into society with her own daughter, Jane, and her two sons. She fears the worst, but takes them under her wing nonetheless. Not all turns out unsatisfactory and the challenges presented have a lasting effect on the maturity of the unfortunates. I could not believe Lady Catherine de Bourgh is still alive twenty-five years after the Darcy’s marriage, but she’s there, sticking her nose in where it’s not wanted. This is a very witty and enjoyable read!
