My interest in historical fiction on witches and witch-hunting was sparked through a book I read in 2007 called The Witch’s Trinity, which provides a unique perspective on a poor medieval town bent on blaming their troubles on witches, whether real or imagined. While I’ve been meaning to find similar reads, my TBR just hasn’t included any lately, and so this novel sounds like just the thing:
The Afflicted Girls

description:
“Something terrible happened in Salem in 1692 . . . but it isn’t what you think!
THE AFFLICTED GIRLS A Novel of Salem by author-researcher Suzy Witten
presents a startling new theory of the Salem Village witch-hunts which is certain
to put this 300 year old unsettled mystery to rest . . . by guiding readers through
The Historical Record to revelation. Part parable, part star-crossed romance,
and part supernatural venture, this is an intuitive human history—and inhuman—spun
with a modern twist. A controversial debut by a new Historical storyteller.”

Ooh this sounds right up my ally. I have enjoyed reading about this time period since reading The Crucible in high school, but there hasn’t been a lot I have found. This one sounds great!

This really sounds intriguing..except I’m such a chicken when it comes to reading sabout the ‘dark side’..so I don’t even know if I’d read it. I mean, when it’s part of the history I’m reading, then, yeah, that’s ok…but if it’s only about that- it creeps me- plus I feel for those women who were unjustly tried, hanged, or burned-too cruel. But then I have no problem reading aobut alchemists and the like..go figure…

I could have sworn I left a comment here the other day after Lucy’s…must have glitched. Anyway, what I meant to say was that this book sounds really interesting to me. The headline truly makes me want to know what happened there!!
